The 15-year-old racing driver had his breakthrough weekend in the Nordic 4 Championship at FDM Jyllandsringen this weekend.
More than halfway through his debut season, Casper Nissen has now cracked the code for the fast single-seaters. This is evident after this weekend’s race, where the driver from Southern Jutland secured several top positions and the highest points score of all drivers.
As third fastest in Saturday’s timed race, Nissen had created a good foundation for the first race of the weekend, which was run that afternoon. However, he didn’t quite manage to put the elements together and the former European karting champion had to settle for fourth place behind three of the most experienced drivers in the field.
This was changed on Sunday, however, when Casper drove his way from fifth on the grid to second place with solid and stable driving, only surpassed by his STEP Motorsport team-mate.
In the third and final race, Casper was able to start from pole position thanks to his great results in the previous two races. For several laps, the young driver was at the centre of a thrilling battle for first place, where two experienced competitors challenged both technique and overview. The result was second place, and although a victory would have been nice, Casper Nissen is happy with a really good weekend behind the wheel:
“It’s been a really good weekend for the team and myself. I’ve found some of the things I haven’t quite been able to get to grips with until now, and it gave me a lot more speed and stability in the car. It has boosted my confidence a bit, and now I’m looking forward even more to the last two races of the year, where I hope to take my first victory,” says Casper Nissen, who also thanks the team for their efforts:
“The whole team around me at STEP Motorsport is doing a great job. I’m happy with the support and training I’ve received, and now we need to finish the season well together”, he says.
Casper Nissen leads the Danish Rookie Championship and is in fifth place in the overall standings.
