From trial run to shooting star in four seasons

When Casper Nissen got to try out a real racing go-kart at Vojens Motorsport Arena on his 9th birthday in 2019, no one could have guessed that a few years later he’d be tipped as one of the next big names in Danish motorsport.

Nevertheless, the 14-year-old racing driver has demonstrated a natural flair and a burning passion for motorsport. This can be seen in the ever-growing collection of trophies in his room in Toftlund – and in the opportunities that are now opening up for the talented driver from Southern Jutland.

Over the past four years, Casper Nissen has developed and worked his way from victories on Danish go-kart tracks to top results in the European top series, Rotax Max Euro Trophy.

In this short time, Casper has become Danish champion, Nordic champion and European champion, and has been selected to represent Denmark at the FIA Karting Academy Trophy.

The next step will be taken in 2025

There isn’t much more for Casper to achieve on the go-kart tracks. The next step is to make his debut in real racing cars – and that will happen in Nordic 4, the Danish championship for young motorsport talents.

Here, Casper will drive a 160 horsepower Formula 4 racing car with sequential gearbox, wide slick tyres and wings that create downforce and better grip through the fast corners.

The Formula 4 category was created as the obvious first step from karting to professional motorsport. Whether you dream of Formula 1, Le Mans or something else, the formula car is where it all starts.

Participation in Nordic 4 is largely about developing both driving skills and an understanding of professional motorsport as a whole. Even though Casper has already learned to work professionally with his sport in recent years, he will be faced with greater demands and expectations for his performance.

As a professional racing driver, you are the leader, motivator and main character for an entire team of mechanics, engineers and assistants. This is not something you can formally train for, so it is important to get a season or two where, in addition to learning the craft behind the wheel, you also gain an understanding of your role in a team.

The official talent development class of Danish motorsport has been in existence since 2017 and can boast of having laid the foundation for a number of big Danish names already.

Drivers such as Malthe Jakobsen, Frederik Vesti, Christian Rasmussen and Noah Strømsted have used the Danish talent championship as their first step towards an international career.

The car is a Mygale M14-F4 with 160 horsepower and a six-speed sequential gearbox.

Since former European Le Mans Series driver Morten Dons established the team with a focus on talent development, it has been at the top of the Danish championship. Based on the long-term development of young racing drivers to thrive and succeed in international motorsport through an individual programme of training, sparring and coaching.

The collaboration with STEP Motorsport will prepare Casper to impress on international race tracks, both behind the wheel and as a leader and motivator for those around him.
